Are your products safe for pets?
Although our scents are non-toxic to our “furry friends”, we do recommend keeping all of our products out of reach of pets.
Candles
Why is my candle producing black smoke?
Candles can produce black smoke when the candle wick is too long. If this is the case, extinguish your candle and wait until the wax has cooled prior to trimming the wick. Alternatively, this can happen if the candle is too hot (we recommend only burning candles for 4 hours at a time) or if the candle is dirty.
Summersleigh products are made from natural waxes and therefore black smoke is uncommon and much more likely to occur if you are burning candles made from paraffin wax.
Are your products recyclable?
All our diffuser bottles and candle jars are recyclable. Check with your local guidelines regarding disposing of items.
Diffusers
How do reed diffusers work?
Reed diffusers are very simple to use; reeds are inserted into a glass jar of scented diffuser fragrance, the reeds soak up the scent and emit a luxurious fragrance around your home. Reed diffusers are flame free and do not require any heat, the scent is naturally dispersed into the air.
How long do reed diffusers last?
Our reed diffusers last up to 3 months depending on where they are located, how often the reeds are turned etc., there is no fixed answer to this question as it’s dependant on the oil & scent variety of the fragrance, the individuals’ sense of smell, number of reeds, how often the reeds are turned, how many reeds you use (less reeds will last longer but the scent won’t be as strong). Note, reeds can become clogged over time and less efficient at absorbing the oil & scent.
My reeds have lost their smell
Reeds are easy to refresh, they just need to be turned. Hold all the reeds in one hand, turn them over and place them back into the diffuser jar, spreading them out as preferred. If you do this once a week the scent should remain strong.
Be careful when turning the reeds to avoid the oil coming into contact with your skin or furniture. Should this happen, we recommend washing your hands or surfaces immediately. Note, the diffuser will work more efficiently if it is placed in an area with ventilation.
What to do if my diffuser is over-powering
To decrease the strength of the aroma reduce the number of reeds in the diffuser.
